Indigenous Health
At Mooloolaba Surgery, we are committed to providing culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive Indigenous health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.
Our team recognises the unique health challenges faced by Indigenous Australians and strives to build strong, trusting relationships with individuals and families to support long-term health and wellbeing.
We are committed to closing the gap in health outcomes and providing a safe space where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients feel heard, valued, and supported.
Our Indigenous Health services include:
- Annual Indigenous Health Checks (715 Health Assessments)
A comprehensive health review that helps identify risk factors early and support preventative care, tailored specifically to Indigenous patients. - Chronic disease prevention and management
Support for conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, and respiratory conditions through ongoing, coordinated care. - Immunisations and preventive health
Access to routine and age-appropriate vaccinations and screenings. - Mental health support
Compassionate care for emotional wellbeing, including connection to Indigenous-specific mental health services when appropriate. - Women’s, Men’s and Children’s Health
Culturally sensitive care across all stages of life, including reproductive and sexual health, pregnancy care, and child development. - Support with Closing the Gap (CTG) initiatives
Assistance with registration and access to subsidised medications, follow-up care, and specialist referrals under the CTG program. - Health education and community engagement
Empowering patients through education on nutrition, lifestyle, and self-management strategies while respecting cultural values and practices.
We work closely with local Indigenous health workers, allied health professionals, and community organisations to provide holistic, coordinated care that respects cultural identity and improves health outcomes.
Our goal is to provide a welcoming, respectful environment where every patient receives the care they deserve.
If you identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, please let our team know so we can ensure your care is culturally tailored and eligible for relevant health services and support.
